Just before I left on vacation, I did some thinking, signed off the Storytell listserv, and made big plans to launch my own opinionated blog. For the first two nights of my camping vacation, I drifted off in my sleeping bag thinking off all the incendiary, important, and self-righteous rants I'd be seeding my blog with.
And then, as the trip went on, and I spent more time with the kids, and the trees, the birds, the mountains, the cold clear streams, the stars, I forgot all about that.
And when a campfire appeared, I even managed to tell a few stories.
Oh, right.
Telling stories.
That's what I like to do.
Suddenly the blog doesn't seem as important.
