Tellers from across the entire USA & Internationally are eligible for 2008 NSN Regional Concert. It's up to you to nominate them!

CALL FOR ALL STORYTELLERS! (Due February 15)

This year the NSN Regional Concert will include storytellers from the eight regions represented in the National Storytelling Network. NSN members of EACH region may nominate storytellers to the concert.

Widening the Regional Circle

Like a stone thrown into a pond, the storytelling movement continues to ripple. As our National Conference continues to serve an expanding membership, the 2008 conference will reflect our widening identity. This year the Regional Concert will include storytellers from the eight regions represented in the National Storytelling Network.

The Regional Concert Committee invites NSN members of each region to nominate storytellers to the concert. Who would you like to see represent your region at the Regional Concert this year? Which gem of a storyteller does your region want to share with the rest of the membership?

The Regional Concert submission process is a networking opportunity for the regions that will result in a 90-minute concert with eight tellers. As a networking opportunity, we are inviting members to learn more about the tellers in their region. The resulting concert is envisioned as an exciting, tightly programmed tour of the nation, featuring a variety of fresh voices and styles.

Please reflect on the tellers in your region. Who do you think is ready for a moment in front of their peers? Whose voice is professional, unique, and representative of your region? Widen your circle with some research. Attend the program of a teller you have never seen before. Explore a website or two. Call a teller you have not met and swap stories over the phone.

By February 15, all paid-up NSN members may email one nomination to proposals@storynet.org. Please note: you may not nominate yourself. Please list the title of your email as “Regional Nomination.” Be sure to include full name & home state of nominee. Also include your full name as listed on your NSN membership to validate your vote. This is to be a regional choice, a chance to practice community building, to select the teller best suited to represent your region. You can vote for anyone, but to submit a story, invited tellers must:

· be paid-up members of NSN;

· never have been a featured teller at the National Storytelling Festival;

· not have performed in a NSN Regional Concert or Exchange Place in the last 5 years, i.e. 2008 (scheduled for Exchange Place), 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004.

The NSN staff will collect and tally the totals and submit the top three choices from each region to the regional concert committee (RCC). The RCC will invite the selected tellers to submit their three top choices of a 10-15 minute story between March 1-April 1 by tape, CD, mp3, etc. On May 1, the committee will announce the final tellers selected from the submissions with the goal of creating a balanced, thrilling concert.
