I AM LOOKING FOR A VIDEO OR DVD WITH A STORY CALLED "NO NEWS", A GREAT STORY THAT THE FOLKTELLERS USED TO TELL. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF SUCH A PRODUCT EXISTS?

Do you want to learn to tell it, or do you specifically need a recording of them telling it? The story is in written form in several collections--not exactly as they tell it, of course.

I love to tell this one. I change a few things when I tell it, depending on the audience.

Thanks for the reply. I actually was looking for a video or dvd with the story on it. I e-mailed Connie Regan-Blake, who very kindly replied right away to say that she and Barbara Freeman did make a video recording of it long ago. Encouraged by that I did an online "WorldCat" search of library collections, and found that the "No News" as told by the Folktellers, was recorded on VHS in 1986 in a series called American Storytelling Vol. 5. ISBN: 082420736X, under the imprint of H.W. wilson, Co.; Story-Tel Enterprises. It's out of print, but I can iborrow it via inter-library loan.

You're good! Sure you're not a librarian? I remember that we had that video in our library collection, along with one they did on learning to tell stories.

I hope you find it. They were very fine.

It turns out that we couldn't find a library that would ILL the item because it's "media" instead of a book. Weird, because books cost as much or more than most "media".

Anyway, it turned out that when one of our substitute librarians arrived for work, we told her our tale of woe about being unable to get a recorded version of "No News", and she said, "I have a copy at home that I'll be happy to lend!"

Don't you love happy endings?
