Storyteller Syd Lieberman is releasing ALL of his 14 recordings under a Creative Commons license for free download from his web site at http://www.sydlieberman.com

It's only been seven years since Napster woke performing artists up to the possibilities of reaching new audiences via file sharing and free downloads. I expected to have to wait another seven before storytellers caught on. And what's more, he's using a Creative Commons license! I can't tell you how excited I am, for this bold and long overdue step for the field.

I only hope that Syd's "experiment" proves to be wildly successful. His aim is to reach new audiences and generate more interest in booking him for live shows. I think it will work, although I couldn't begin to guess how much of a bump this will give him. 5%? 10%?

Syd is presenting a workshop for the CherishBound people at the "Four Corners Festival" in NM this year. Some of these folks are about to get a real eye opening, ear pleasing experience.
