Dear Storytellers:
On Storytell (an email list), a few of us have been discussing the possibility of creating a web site for storytellers about the crisis in Darfur. There are many possible directions this project could go. Perhaps we could continue the discussion here, in a larger forum?

If the goal of this website was to enable storytellers to do something in response to the crisis in Darfur, what sort of website would be most helpful to you? _________________ Time exists so that everything doesn't happen at once; space exists so that everything doesn't happen to you!

Lee Ellen,
Are we discussing a website for the Darfur crisis alone? Or are we discussing a Peace website which may be a separate project?
If the Peace website is meant as an umbrella under which other storytelling efforts evolve, is “peace” the correct word? For example, The Tsunami, Katrina were natural disasters.
A suggestion for the ‘peace’ website if it is to be an umbrella website is a different name … “ Storytelling for Peace … for Healing” “Storytelling for Peace and Help” “Storytelling for Peace ~ Storytelling for Relief” “Storytelling for Peace, Relief and Help” … ??? Just brainstorming here. All of this is a moot point if we are actually talking about two websites which might or might not link up together at a separate time.

Hi, Mary:
I'm not saying, I'm asking if people would express their own needs so that we can see whether one site could address our concerns, whether we need an umbrella site (a sort of "concerned storytellers" or "storytellers without borders" thing) which would host discussions and resources for a variety of issues.
So -- right now, I hope that each person can be specific and personal about what they would like to see.

Lee-Ellen,
When you wrote, "I'm not saying, I'm asking ..." ... Yes ... I thought you were asking but I wasn't sure of the focus of the discussion based on previous (off-forum) discussions.
Thanks for the clarification! :)
An umbrella website might take time to get up and running. Is it possible to put on a Darfur Storytelling site and then connect it to a larger umbrella project? What are the logistics involved?

THank you. Lee-Ellen, for setting this up. THinking of ways for storytellers to promote peace in general and respose to Darfur in particular is very important to me. _________________ Muriel W. Horowitz, Storyteller, literacy coach
