General Info
23rd annual storytelling festival, hosted by Bedford Center for the Arts, features 3 days of storytelling performances for all ages and fun family activities including free “swapping grounds” and face painting on the Common. Featuring 2006 Grammy Award winner Bill Harley, 2005 Storytelling World Award winner and Master Story Performer Leeny Del Seamonds and American Library Association Notable Children’s Book Award Winner Onawumi Jean Moss.
Day Schedule
Friday Evening: FREE 7:30pm preview at the Bedford Free Public Library features Leeny Del Seamonds.
Saturday: Bring your blanket and enjoy the free Story Swapping Ground from 10:30am-5:15pm on the Bedford Town Common. Anyone can share a story including kids, adults, toddlers, amateur and professional tellers. Be thoroughly entertained by the Saturday Family Festival beginning at 10am showcasing 20 storytellers from throughout New England. Saturday full day tickets $20 per person, individual performances $7.
Saturday Evening: An Adult Evening with Bill Harley at 7 pm and at 8:30pm Down Home Humor with Onawumi Jean Moss and Leeny Del Seamonds. Saturday Evening Events $17 each.
Sunday: The morning provides intensive learning in the art of storytelling for adults and children. At 9:30am, intensive Master Coaching will be provided by Leeny Del Seamonds. At 10am, Onawumi Jean Moss leads a master class entitled “Creating Stories that Contest Cultural Marginalization.” At 11am, Bill Harley leads a child/adult workshop called “Once Upon a Time, When No One Was Looking: Families Telling Stories.” At 1pm, Leeny Del Seamonds leads a master class entitled “Spoken Word Alive!.”
The Festival concludes with a Bill Harley Family Concert at 2pm. Tickets $17 each.
