Welcome to the Mentoring Forum!

My name is Kevin Cordi and I am the moderator. Mentoring has always been more than an interest to me, it has been something that I believe and act on for years. I have had the wonderful blessing of being encouraged and coached by many storytellers (and artists) in my 22 years plus as a professional storyteller and teacher. However, this was not aways the case, when I was 18 and first discovered storytelling, I felt lost and for a year there was no one around to find out more about storytelling. This was a lonely feeling. With NSN, Michael McCarty and I are looking to help begin an international/national effort to help mentor storytellers. No one needs to feel lost or alone.

This forum is one way we can help. If you have mentored or would like to be mentored, youth and/or adults, please take this time to express your needs. Our goal is that people will read and respond to these needs. However, please use this forum to talk about the bigger issues such as :
What is mentorship?
Who can mentor?
Why there is a fear of mentoring?
How is mentoring different than coaching?
How do you know when someone needs mentoring?
What has worked in the past?

As we help build the next legacy of storytellers, please help us begin our conversation. I look forward to spirited and valued conversation.

all my best,
Kevin Cordi, Moderator
